George Wythe and American Independence

  • 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • MacArthur Memorial Visitor Center Theatre

Louis L. Guy History Series

Wythe Holt, Professor Emeritus of Law, University of Alabama School of Law, will tell us about the life of Hampton native George Wythe, portraying him as a rebel. Wythe was a signer of the Declaration of Independence, America’s first professor of law, and a prominent jurist in the young nation. He was influential in the Second Continental Congress, where he helped forward the notion of American independence. Mr. Holt, a descendant of Wythe, will bring us more about the life of this early Patriot on the 210th anniversary of Wythe’s death.

Free and open to the public
