Norfolk Celebrates: Our Chinese Community
In 2023, Norfolk Historical Society launched a new video series, Norfolk Celebrates, a projected series of documentaries featuring members of our diverse and culturally rich community. The first, Our Chinese Community, will be featured in our Louis L. Guy History Series on 14 February 2024. But you don’t have to wait until February to enjoy it – it is going live on our YouTube channel on Friday, 29 September 2023, in celebration of the Chinese Moon Festival, one of the most important dates in the Chinese year. The video features interviews with Linda Ark, Jenny Wong and Dr. George Wong, who recount the stories of their ancestors who first settled in Norfolk, and their families’ significant contributions to life in Norfolk and Hampton Roads today. NHS Board Members Dr. Warren Stewart and Steve Forrest narrated and filmed the piece. We hope you enjoy viewing it as much as we enjoy bringing it to you! |
