The "Oyster Wars" raged between the government of
Virginia and the "lawless" oyster dredgers of the lower Chesapeake Bay from 1882 to 1883, were among the more spectacular events in an ongoing conflict.

Please join us on November 12 and find out how a stowaway reporter, a satirical musical, and mistaken identity played a role in this tale of political intrigue.

Presented by Dr. Anna Holloway, the Archer M. Huntington chair for the Study of History and the Curator of the USS Monitor Center at The Mariners Museum in Newport News.

FREE and open to the public!
