Is my Norfolk Historical Society (NHS) membership/donation tax deductible?The NHS is a 501(c)(3) organization. Your membership/donation is tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
What are membership fees and donations used for?
NHS income is used to help support our monthly programming series, local initiatives (such as the St. Paul's archeological dig, the Slover Memorial Library, and the Chrysler Museum's capital campaign), and the preservation of Fort Norfolk. The NHS also offers scholarships.
When and where does the NHS meet?
The NHS holds an annual general membership meeting as well as a Second Wednesday monthly program series at 7PM at the MacArthur Memorial Visitor Center theater.
Does the NHS offer programs for schools/community groups?
The Norfolk Historical Society does not currently offer programs.
Do I have to live in Norfolk to join the NHS?
No! We welcome anyone interested in Norfolk, Virginia history regardless of their current place of residence.
Do you have to be a member of the NHS to attend programs?
Our annual meeting is open to members only, however, unless otherwise noted, our programs are open to the public.
